Robert L. Waren

Robert Lyon “Bob” Waren, 31, of Fayetteville, NC and formally of New York, New York went to be with his Lord on March 2, 2006 after a long and courageous battle with kidney cancer.

Bob was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business. He worked at Bear Wagner Specialist, LLC in New York City since 2000 as a financial analyst. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Manhattan, NY.


He is survived by his parents Marshall and Sandee Waren, his brother and wife M. Hughes, Jr and Janet A. Waren, Marshall H. Waren, III and Griffith M. Waren, his nephews. Also surviving are his paternal grandmother Helen S. Waren and maternal grandmother Celia E. Yarborough, maternal grandfather Wilson F. Yarborough, Jr. and his wife Charlotte, and his maternal great grandmother, Mary B. Yarborough.

Bob was a 1993 graduate of the Fayetteville Academy where he was student body president, member of the National Honor Society and a starting player for the Fayetteville Academy State Champion Basketball teams in 1991 & 1992. Bob was named Fayetteville Academy athlete of the year and N.C.I.S.A.A. conference player of the year in 1993. He was an avid Carolina basketball fan throughout his life. While attending UNC he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and was the winning angler in the 1994 Big Rock fishing tournament. Bob was also a member of the North Carolina Society of NY, The Union League Club of NY, and Rockaway Hunting Club of NY.

Services: Funeral, 3pm Saturday in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Burial in Cross Creek Cemetery. Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. Visitation: 1:30 to 3pm Saturday at the church gathering hall.

A memorial fund has been established for Bob. Funds will be used for scholarship and charitable uses in memory of Bob.
